Weed Control and Fertilization Program

Professional Weed Control, Fertilization & Noxious Weed Management

PestX Colorado provides a complete Weed Control and Fertilization Program designed for Colorado’s tough soil conditions, short growing season, and aggressive invasive weeds.
Using a combination of selective herbicides, non-selective herbicides, granular fertilizers, and integrated mechanical controls, we deliver healthier, greener, thicker lawns — while removing the noxious weeds required by Colorado law.

Our service aligns with top competitors like TruGreen, Naturalawn of America, Lawn Doctor, FitTurf, Weed Man, and others, but uses a protocol customized for Colorado’s 26-week growing season (April–November).

Colorado’s Noxious Weed Requirements

Legal Compliance for Property Owners

Colorado maintains three official Noxious Weed Lists (A, B, and C) defined by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
These species:

  • Damage ecosystems

  • Spread aggressively

  • Reduce property value

  • Harm native vegetation

Landowners are legally required to treat or eradicate these weeds to remain compliant with city, county, and state ordinances.

Our Lawn Care Philosophy: Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

PestX Colorado uses a full IPM strategy, combining:

  • Herbicides (selective + non-selective)

  • Granular fertilizers

  • Fungicides (as needed)

  • Insecticides for grubs & mites

  • Mechanical controls (hand-pulling, mowing, aeration, seeding)

  • Soil amendments/pH balancing

This balanced approach produces the healthiest, densest turf capable of naturally resisting weeds.

Organic vs. Conventional Programs

Conventional Lawn Care

Uses inorganically derived chemicals, offering maximum weed control and fast fertilization results.

Organic Lawn Care

Uses natural or organically derived chemicals.
Less potent, more environmentally aligned, and ideal for eco-conscious customers.

The client has both options.

Mechanical Controls (Included as Guidance or Add-Ons)

Mechanical controls are essential in Colorado turf management:

Mowing

Grass must be maintained at 3.5–4 inches weekly for optimal density.

• Aeration

Performed at the beginning and end of the growing season to improve nutrient uptake and root health.

• Hand Pulling / Cutting

Weeds larger than 8–12 inches must be manually removed to prevent seeding.

• Watering
  • Water 1–2 times per day during heat

  • Best in early morning or evening

  • Deep watering is recommended

  • Irrigation should be cycled properly
