Bed Bug Control

Bed bugs are among the most stressful and persistent pests a homeowner can face. Pest X Colorado provides a structured, multi-stage Bed Bug Control Program designed to eliminate all life stages — eggs, nymphs, and adults — using a combination of detailed structural treatments, customer heat prep, and bi-weekly follow-ups.

Our approach is built directly from the client-approved Bed Bug Protocol and is designed for effective, safe, and lasting results in Colorado homes, apartments, rental units, and multi-family properties.

Bed Bug Control Protocol

Pre-Treatment Protocol :
  • Draws must be empties and placed on the floor.
  • Bedding must be removed and mattress and box springs must be placed on their side against the wall.
  • All items must be removed from below bed frame

Step 1: Standard Structural Pest Control Treatment

We begin every bed bug service with a full structural application to prevent spread between rooms.

This includes:

  • Foundation perimeter treatment (to block migration)

  • Baseboard application in affected rooms

  • Barrier treatment to prevent cross-room travel

This crucial first step helps stop bed bugs from relocating during treatment.

Step 2: Customer Heat Prep (Essential Step)

To kill eggs and live bed bugs hiding in fabrics, customers must place the following in the dryer on high heat:

  • Bedding & sheets

  • Blankets & comforters

  • Clothing

  • Towels & bathroom linens

  • Curtains

  • Stuffed animals

  • Any washable cloth items

Heat kills eggs — which chemical treatments cannot penetrate.
This step significantly speeds up full elimination.

Step 3: Detailed Furniture & Room Treatment

We apply insecticide and insect growth regulator to all known and potential bed bug harborage areas, including:

  • Mattress seams & tufts

  • Box spring interior & exterior

  • Bed frame joints & headboards

  • Nightstands and dresser cracks

  • Carpet edges & baseboards

  • Furniture seams (couches, recliners, chairs)

  • Under beds and behind furniture

  • Wall void access points

This is the most detailed step and requires precise targeting to eliminate hidden populations.

Step 4: Bi-Weekly Follow-Up Treatments

Bed bug infestations require repeat treatments every 2 weeks to break the reproductive cycle.

Why?

  • Eggs hatch every 10–14 days

  • IGR stops development but does not kill eggs directly

  • Adults may try to relocate to untreated areas

  • Multi-stage elimination requires consistent disruption

We continue follow-ups until full control is confirmed.

Why Bed Bugs Require a Specialized Program

Bed bugs are resistant, resilient, and highly mobile. They:

  • Hide in extremely tight cracks

  • Feed at night and retreat deep into furniture

  • Reproduce quickly

  • Spread between rooms and units

  • Survive for months without feeding

Because of this, one-time treatments do NOT work.
A structured, multi-visit protocol is the only proven solution.
